Saint Kitts and Nevis Country Fact

Saint Kitts and Nevis Country Fact

About St Kitts
There are two islands that make up Saint Kitts and Nevis. If you want to call it Saint Kitts, that's its name. Saint Christopher Island is the bigger one. There is a two-mile gap in the ocean that separates the two islands. The Narrows is named for this reason People call the two islands "The Mother Colony of the West Indies." They were among the first European colonies. In the past, Saint Kitts was known as Liamuiga, which means "fertile land." In the past, people who lived there were drawn to its fertile volcanic soil and lush forests. As a result of its small size and population of 45,000, Saint Kitts and Nevis has become one of the best places to go to the Caribbean as a tourist in the last few years.

Access
Saint Kitts is very easy to get to from almost anywhere. Many of the big cruise lines stop here. Saint Kitts is also reachable by air. There are daily flights from Miami and New York, and twice a week from London, so you can get there. Package deals that include transportation, a hotel, and/or pre-planned activities are usually cheaper and more convenient than booking each piece separately, but it's not always true. The island's Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport even has a special terminal for people who want to skip through customs, ride in limos, and enjoy free champagne and outdoor bathing areas while they're in the air.

Organization and Currency
Saint Kitts, which is part of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and CARICOM. On the island, US dollars are used a lot. Since 1976 the exchange rate has been $1 = EC $2.7. Average tips for hotel and restaurant service are 10%. It's a good idea to check to make sure that this isn't already being done.

Tourism as main industry
People may stay at a site for a long or short time. People from the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean are often in this group. They also come from other countries. These days, most of them come in by cruise ship or plane to Robert L Bradshaw Airport. Long-term visitors are mostly Americans and Canadians who are in veterinary or medical school for 2.5 to 3 years. St. Kitts is home to the West Indies' only operable train. Despite the fact that the train was built to transport sugarcane, it is still used by tourists.

Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries
Sugarcane is one of Saint Kitts and Nevis's most important crops. The majority of sugar produced in Saint Kitts and Nevis is exported to countries such as the United States of America and Europe. Farmers have produced sugarcane on Nevis since the British introduced it. Sugar production reached a zenith in the mid-nineteenth century. Although the sugar business declined in the late nineteenth century, it remained a significant employer. On Saint Kitts and Nevis, cattle, sheep, and goats are common livestock. The territorial seas of Saint Kitts and Nevis are home to barracuda, kingfish, and snapper. The fishing sector is critical to the economy of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Demersal fishing is the most important sort of fishing in Saint Kitts and Nevis, employing the greatest number of people. Spear guns, hand lines, and fish traps are all examples of demersal fishing gear. The majority of demersal fishing happens between 30 and 600 feet below the surface. Pelagic fishing off the coast of Saint Kitts and Nevis is very popular.

Food
There are a lot of restaurants in Basseterre, so no visitor to Saint Kitts will go home hungry. Markets and restaurants sell fresh seafood that was caught that day, as well as large lobsters that are ready to be eaten. Goat water stew, conkies, and salt fish with spicy plantains are some of the most common foods in this country. Some of them are made with goat meat and papaya and dumplings, and some of them have tomatoes in them. Strip on Frigate Bay is a place where you can drink and dance. You can also sing and sing karaoke. Also, there are a lot of casual beach bars where you can have a drink and watch the sunset.

Festival
A small country has a lot of big events. Musicians from the Caribbean come to the Saint Kitts Music Festival every year, and it's a big event. Damian Marley and American rapper 50 Cent were two of the artists who made music. Culturama is an annual event in Nevis that has been going on for a long time. It was set up to keep and promote local art. Emancipation Day is celebrated on the first weekend of August every year. African slaves were freed on this day in 1865. Since 1974, people have been coming to the island to see the festival, which is held every year. There were dances, plays, crafts, and a contest to make the best food in the area, too. There was also a beauty pageant and a calypso contest at the event. It will be like the Battle of St. Kitts in March, and Independence Day and the Latin Fiesta will be held in October as well. There will be a St. Kitts Fashion Week in November.

Events and Carnival.
From late November to early January, people in St. Kitts and Nevis have a week-long celebration called "Sugar Mas." Some countries have a pre-Lenten party, but not all of them. Saint Kitts and other islands in the Caribbean don't do this. Instead, they are a part of the Christmas season, with a Caribbean flair, but they aren't alone. Moko-Jumbies dance wildly on wooden stilts that are six feet in the air, and they move around a lot. Spectators and dancers cheer as masked performers in peacock feather headdresses and fringed costumes are led by a string band down the street in costumes. The movie has a lot of soca and calypso music in it. He does it on his own: The Prime Minister picks the winner of the Calypso King/Queen Monarch competition himself.

Volcanoes
There are three volcanoes on St. Kitts. Mount Liamuiga is one of the best places to hike on the island. The two-hour hike to the top has slippery tree roots and almost vertical parts. It will be worth it for people who are brave enough to climb to the top to get a great view of the rainforest. The walk is full of wildlife, but it's best to go with a guide who can tell you not to do things wrong. In the trees, there are mongooses, voles, vervet monkeys, blue snails, and a lot of birds, as well.

Local Transportation
You can take the Scenic Railway if you don't want to stand while you look at the scenery. The railroad is an 18-mile piece of history from the early 1900s when sugar industry train routes were used. If you want to see the whole main island in three hours and 30 miles, you can take double-decker carriages that have air-conditioned lower floors. It takes people to beaches, cliffs, rain forests, and farms along the way. That includes the Prime Minister's house, Brimstone Hill Fortress, the great-great-grandfather of American President Thomas Jefferson, and other important places in the country, like a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the trip, the leader even has his own group of singers and dancers, as well as free drinks to wash down the island's history.

Beautiful Natural Beach
You can't leave without going to the beach. Everyone who likes the beach can find one that fits their needs. Banana Bay is only a short drive away, but the palm trees make it feel like you're in another world. All day, South Frigate Bay is a popular place to swim, do water sports, or just look at people. Large hotels and restaurants can be found in North Frigate Bay. It's a very busy place. Where the volcanic and coral parts of Saint Kitts meet, near White House Bay and Dieppe Bay Beach. People who want to snorkel can find a lot of fish and coral all over the place.
